Transport and Fuel

Transport is the way in which people and goods are moved from one place to another. From people cycling to work, to products being shipped across the world, types of transportation include cars, aircraft, ships, and trains. Transportation requires some form of energy, often a type of fuel. Fossil fuels such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel are the most widely used as readily available and relatively cheap options. However, they release carbon to the atmosphere when they combust, leading to concerns over their environmental impact. Alternative fuels include electricity, hydrogen and biofuels, in some cases reducing emissions and improving efficiency. Advances in fuel production and transport systems must continue to shape energy efficiency, sustainability, and global mobility.
